Today, Shadows Over Main Street received some kind words from a respected author.

Shadows Over Main Street demonstrates most convincingly that fear lurks in our towns and villages, in darkened alleys, and in the shadowy human heart. This anthology represents a dynamic cross section of contemporary horror.”

Laird Barron, Bram Stoker Award winning author of THE BEAUTIFUL THING THAT AWAITS US ALL

As far as being a Lovecraftian feather in your cap (tentacle in your cap?) words of praise from Mr. Barron rank pretty high up there. We are delighted that he enjoyed the book and was kind enough to share his thoughts.

The release date for Shadows Over Main Street is coming soon!

“SHADOWS OVER MAIN STREET is a masterful blend of stories fit for both die-hard Lovecraft fans and readers new to the genre. Each and every tale is wickedly delicious.”

So says Jonathan Maberry, New York Times bestselling author of FALL OF NIGHT and V-WARS.

Frankly, we couldn’t agree with him more. How could we not with a table of contents like this?

It gives us great pleasure to announce that the wise and venerated horror author, Ramsey Campbell, is providing the foreword for the Shadows Over Main Street anthology. Entitled, “Lovecraft’s Longest Shadow,” this piece of writing is really something to behold and Mr. Campbell has some wonderful things to say about the anthology and the contributions of all the authors. For us, having such an icon involved in the project has been a very special thing indeed. We can hardly wait to share this book with the world, but for now we must hold our collective squee as we welcome a true master of the craft into the shadows.

Keep an eye out for more news on interior art and the release date!

We have been very excited lately to see some of the interior art for Shadows Over Main Street rolling in. Robert Helmbrecht at Hazardous Press has really outdone himself by pulling in some amazing artists who are contributing beautiful and disturbing images to the book. We’ve been gawking at the art from Paul Carrick and John Coulthart this week and we can assure you these are images that’ll be burned into your mind for quite some time.

Look for more updates in the future on the art being included in the book. In the meantime, you can check out these websites for the contributing artists.

We’d like to welcome Gary Braunbeck to the Shadows Over Main Street anthology. “The Friendless Bodies of Unburied Men” is a tale of personal demons returning in the midst of a traveling carnival, a story which has previously been seen in in the renowned Cemetery Dance and other publications. It’s a raw and disturbing addition to the Shadows lineup and we are overjoyed to have Gary’s contribution among the pages.

As the final bits of our anthology, Shadows Over Main Street are coming together, we are also thrilled to announce that, in addition to all the great stories and the wonderful cover art by Luke Spooner (www.carrionhouse.com), there will be interior art as well! These pieces will be contributed by some truly amazing artists working in the fields of fantasy, science fiction and horror. We know that when this baby rolls out of Hazardous Press in the fall, the artwork will really help make the book something special and we hope you’ll think so, too.

Currently, you can expect to see eye candy from 2014 Word Fantasy Award nominee, Galen Dara (www.galendara.com) as well as the incredibly talented Vincent Chong (www.vincentchong-art.co.uk) and Paul Carrick (www.nightserpent.com.)

It’s going to be a darkly beautiful thing.

Please join us in welcoming James Chambers to the shadows. James is contributing a nasty little addition to the table of contents with his story, “Odd Quahogs,” which reinforces the notion that there are some towns you just shouldn’t go to, some people you just shouldn’t do business with and some things you just shouldn’t eat. More additions are in the works.
